Gus Johnston is a multi-disciplinary Creative Director and an empathetic creative leader with a simple philosophy: Bring out the best in the work and in the people you work with.

Currently based in San Francisco, California, he most recently served as Group Creative Director at acclaimed independent advertising agency, Venables Bell & Partners for 7+ Years. There he helped lead a diverse, cross-functional team of writers, designers, art directors and strategists across a breadth of brands, including Chipotle, 3M, Simi, Peelz and Frito-Lay.

During his career he’s been lucky enough to work with some of the world’s most iconic brands. But no matter the size or scale, he prides himself on approaching every brief, every challenge, and every job, with an open-minded sense of possibility, creativity and collaboration.

He’s an honoree of Adweek’s Creative100 and an inductee in Out Magazine’s Out100. (The latter in recognition of his leadership on LGBTQIA+ diversity and inclusion in the world of sport).
